Soldier missing from Korean warfare identified, returned to Texas - KTRK-television

HOUSTON (KTRK) --

A U.S. soldier missing from the Korean struggle has been identified and again to Texas.

The remains of army Sgt. Billy J. Williams arrived at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Saturday. Water canons and salutes honored the veteran, who died in a North Korean prisoner of war camp in 1951.

Scientists used DNA to identify his remains.

lots of his family members by no means knew for bound what happened to him all through the conflict, bit his niece is grateful to the military for at last getting him domestic.

"i was overwhelmed because as a toddler I bear in mind my Dad periodically would say, 'there's gonna be a knock on the door and we're going to head to the door and Billy Joe is gonna be standing there,'" Nancy Williams Motal, Sgt. Williams' niece, informed Eyewitness news.

"nowadays that knock was, I could hear that knock. He did get to return domestic."

Sgt. Williams should be buried in his homeland of Madisonville next Wednesday with full militia honors.
